Monster A-Go Go (1965)

Directors: Bill Rebane and Herschell Gordon Lewis

Genre: Horror/Sci-Fi

"What happens when a film started by the director of The Giant Spider Invasion is finished by Herschell Gordon Lewis, the man who made Two Thousand Maniacs? Yup, you get Monster A-Go Go, a screwy sci-fi obscurity in which an astronaut goes up, but a 10-foot, crusted faced creature comes back. Played by real life giant Henry "Horace" Hite, the Spaceman Who Scares Chicago stalks sexy sunbathers, strangles scientists, attacks twist-party teens, and spews radiation that leaves his victims "shriveled up like a dried prune." And because he's about to "contaminate everybody within a radius of 50 miles," the military desperately tries to corner the lumbering galoot in a deserted stretch of sewer tunnel until an absurdly surreal ending turns everything upside down… Shown primarily in Southern drive-ins during the sixties, Monster A-Go Go will dig through your brain like a cinematic lobotomy. But beware: "What you are about to see may not even be possible within the narrow limits of human understanding." You betcha." - from DVDPacific

My oppinion:
I feel congtatulations are in order, to Directors Bill Rebane and Herschell Gordon Lewis, for making the WORST movie I've ever seen! I've seen lots of bad movies, but this one crawled its way to the top of my list. I saw the MST3K version (thank god!!), but that just wasn't enough this time. I seriously had to take several brakes during the film, so not to go nuts. I seriously can't think of a single positive thing about this movie, and I don't think that has ever happened before. The acting is stale, camerawork and lighting are terrible. the plot is confusing and just plain stupid. The monster is badly done (for the few moments we actually get to see it), The ending was utterly disappointing. I could go on and on and on.. I don't think I would have been able to sit through this one if it wasn't for MST3K.
There were some really funny comments on this episode of MST3K, but despite their efforts, I didn't come close to enjoying it...
I won't recommend this one to anyone, not even "bad movie" fans, unless you want to have the worst movie ever in your collection!
