Door Into Darkness (1973/1974)

Directors: Dario Argento and Luigi Cozzi
Genre: Horror

"The four episodes in Dario Argento's groundbreaking 1973 RAI TV series that he introduced like Alfred Hitchcock.

I Vicino di Casa (The Neighbor)
Directed by Luigi Cozzi. Stars Aldo Reggiari and Laura Belli who set up home in a new house only to discover their upstairs neighbour is a murderer.

Il Tram
Directed by Dario Argento, using the alias Sirio Bernadotte, Il Tram focuses on a supposedly impossible murder inside a streetcar which cop Enzo Cerusico recreates with the help of the passengers.

La Bambola (The Doll)
Directed by
Mario Foglietti and stars Mara Venier who is menaced by Robert Hoffman who may be an escaped lunatic.

Testimone Oculare (Eyewitness)
Directed by Dario Argento and stars Marilu Tolo in a Diaboliques-style tale of possible homicide.

Both of Dario Argento's episodes use a stylish docu-realism approach and both are elongated reprises of sequences originally conceived for inclusion in The Bird with the Crystal Plumage." - from xploitedcinema

My oppinion:
If I didn't hear wrong, Cozzi said on the DVD that Dario Argento directed all three episodes except for I Vicino di Casa, that Cozzi directed himself. Argento used aliases because he was afraid that his reputation as a director would be "scarred" if he directed to many "made for TV" episodes. It's not too gory because the censorship is stricter on TV, but they are good considering they were made for TV. If you haven't seen any of Argentos work, this is not the one to start with though, but recommended for fans of Argento!
