Bloody Pit of Horror (1965)

Directors: Massimo Pupillo
Genre: Horror

Synopsis:
"He was a homicidal maniac who LIVED TO KILL!

Seeking a gothic background for a horror photo shoot, five sexy cover girls and a handful of photographers break into what they assume is an uninhabited castle and are soon taking a series of macabre stills in its dungeon. But -- surprise! -- residing in the castle is demented actor Travis Anderson (Mickey Hargitay) who thinks he's the reincarnation of a The Crimson Executioner, a 17th century madman whose body is entombed in the castle's iron maiden. And when Travis recognizes one of the models as his former fiancée, his already unhinged mind completely snaps. Dressed in a bright red executioner's costume, Travis promptly goes nuts and gleefully subjects the trespassers to a variety of bizarre and elaborately conceived tortures: "The Crimson Executioner cries out for blood!" With its cheerful sadism, an abundance of near-nudity, and a wonderfully over-the-top performance by Mr. Hargitay, Bloody Pit Of Horror is one of the most beloved kitsch classics from the golden age of Italian Horror. Plus...it's in "Psychovision"!" - from DVD Pacific

My oppinion:
This was a lot of fun! I feel the synopsis above tells the exact story of this movie. It's by no means a good movie in the right meaning of the word; it's more in the "so bad it's good" category. You'll get lots of bad acting, especially from the killer. He's got some incredibly funny comments and especially near the ending when he keeps talking about his "perfect body" (a couple of which you can read in the quotes section). Some other ingrediences are some bad special effects, like the incredibly bad (and funny) giant spider, lots of torture action in the castles dungeon and a nice sleazy feeling through it all. I really recommend this movie to all fans of "bad" cinema and all I can say is I was very entertained by this one!
